Morning Routines

Every morning you wake up, take a shower, get dressed, eat breakfast and leave for work. You probably realize that your morning routine is important in regards to having organization and getting ready for work, but you may not realize how important it is for your happiness.

Your morning routine can really affect how you live your life, and how you feel on a daily basis. A morning routine really sets the tone for the rest of your day, and can potentially dictate how your day turns out. Plus getting in a routine will make you much more comfortable, and maybe even excited to get out of bed and to take on the day.

There are many things that you can do for your morning routine, but at the end of the day it really is whatever works for you. You can meditate, take a shower, eat a healthy breakfast, do an exercise, stretch, read the paper, look at your finances, or whatever it may be. It really is just important that you get into the habit of doing the same thing every morning.

For example, it has been said since the beginning of time (okay, maybe not that long, but still, a REALLY long time) that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and it really is true. Regardless of what your breakfast preferences are it is important that you get something in your stomach to give you energy for the day ahead.

If you want to go a step further with this you can drink a glass of water as soon as you get up, this will do two things, it will rehydrate you after you haven’t had anything to drink over the past 6-8 hours, and it will also help you kick the craving to eat a super huge and greasy breakfast by filling your stomach. This technique will not only help you find your energy in the morning, but it will also help you eat healthy and potentially lose some weight.

Also, whatever you do, it is recommended that you try and avoid electronics, particularly your phone or your laptop. This is because you do not want to get sucked out of your morning routine to take care of some work emergency, that really isn’t an emergency.

If you look at your email and get into work brain, that defeats the purpose of the morning routine. Your goal is to be excited for the day ahead, and deal with work when you get there, not to dread going to work in the first place.

This also applies if you don’t have a work place to go to, either because you stay home, or you work from home. By following the same routine everyday, you can effectively change the way that you approach your day, and ultimately your life. You will become more productive, you will feel more excited, and you will also feel more energized, all because you took the time to focus on yourself and your needs. You work hard in your daily life, regardless of what you do, so treat your body with the respect it deserves and allow yourself to get into a healthy and mindful morning routine.
